Modern Cannon

Modern Day Cannon
This is a picture of a M-9 Beretta 9mm Pistol. It fires through the use of gasses produced by rapid, confined burning of a propellant such as gunpowder. Pulling the trigger activates a striking device that causes the propellant to explode. Bullets shoot out of a gun when this happens. the first pistol was made in the town of Pistoia in the 1540's.

1800's

Cannon from the 1800's
This cannon was captured from the Russian Army at the Seige of Sebastopol in the Crimean War. It was presented to a town called Hartlepool by Lord Panmore in 1857. It was made to shoot cannonballs and fires them out using gunpowder. the cannon was meant to be fired by a two man team.

Pre 1700's

ManuBallista

The manuballista serves as my pre 1700's era cannon. The manuballisa was developed around 100 A.D by an Apollodorus of Damascus. It represents the most advanced two-armed torsion engine used by the Roman Army. It's primary purpose was to hurl arrows over a large distance whch would then penetrate the enemy's armor.
